DMK MP Raja seeks flights from Kovai to oversea destinations

Coimbatore: DMK leader A Raja in a letter to Minister of State for Civil Aviation Hardip Singh Puri, requested the Centre to consider operation of flights from here to Dubai, Kaula Lampur and Bangkok.

Nilgiris MP also said in the letter that flights to the overseas cities would benefit Tamilnadu’s western districts, such as Coimbatore, Tirupur, Erode, Nilgiris, Dindugul, and Salem, and also neighbouring State Kerala, as theses regions are being forced to take longer route.

Raja also listed that Coimbatore was one of the largest exporters of textiles, garments, hosiery, jewellery, wet grinder, poultry, machine tools and auto components and also the second largest producer of software in Tamilnadu.

He also added that a commercial visibility study had given a report in favour of operating direct flights to these destinations.
