4-year-old Yashika enters India Book of Records by reciting slokas

Chennai: Four-year-old Yashika from Virgumbakkam made our neighbourhood proud with her incredibly talent by reciting 42 slokas from Bhagavad Gita Chapter Four in nine minutes.

Her feat has entered the India Book of Records.
In a chat with News Today, Yashika’s father Sathish Kumar said, “My daughter shows interest in learning new things. She has good observations skills and has the ability to pronounce difficult words correctly. So, we enrolled her in classical vocal class.”

Sathish said Yashika’s teacher Lakshmi Narasimhan taught her Bhagavad Gita slokas. “Yashika was able learn them in a short span of time without much mistakes,” he said.

About her learning schedule, Sathish said, “Her classes are conducted twice a week. My wife makes her recite slokas at home. We never forced her to sit and recite as she was very much interested herself. She even took part in a musical concert held at Narada Gana Sabha.”

How did Yashika enter the India Book of Records? “We recorded her performance at home and applied for the Indian Book of Records. Then there were few formal process with the organisation. They asked us to record a live video and send it through a pen drive. After verifying and validating her recitation talent, they recognised her. The video is also available in India Book of Records’ YouTube channel.”

Speaking about benefits of reading Bhagavad Gita, Sathish said, “As a parents, we always want to give our children a good environment. Kids need two basic necessity in life which is health and good virtues. We believe that the Bhagavad Gita is a manual book for the body and soul.”

Sathish shared his gratitude to every person who helped her daughter accomplish the record including Lakshmi Narasimhan and Yashika’s grandparents.
