Bedi calls for collective effort to prevent water crisis

Puducherry: Even as Tamilnadu and its neighbouring union territory Puducherry are reeling under water crisis, Lt Governor Kiran Bedi began campaigning for ‘Water Rich Puducherry.

In a Whatsapp message to reporters she said collective effort to prevent water crisis was the need of the hour. Through her initiative Water Rich Puducherry all channels have been cleared by factories in their vicinity and that these industries had paid the service providers directly.

The officials supervised and identified the waterbodies and there were no exchange of money she assured in her message.

Pointing at Chennai’s water crisis, she said the even though the city witnessed floods four years back, it was the first city in the country to run dry. The people’s perception the report was that such a situation arose due to “poor governance, corrupt politics and indifferent bureaucracy.”
