Hyderabad: Two days after Telangana Congress working president, Ponnam Prabhakar resigned supporting the demand that Rahul Gandhi continue as party president, State unit working president Revanth Reddy also quit yesterday.
He said he took the decision to quit from the post to pave the way for restructuring of the party. He said that Rahul wanted accountability from senior leaders and step down to pave way for the party to to have a new look.
In the recently held elections, Reddy was elected to Lok Sabha from Malkajgiri constituency. Reacting to leaders quitting, R C Khuntia, AICC in charge of party affairs in the State, said it was the decision of individual members.
Although Rahul has been firm in resigning as the party chief, Congress in Telangana has passed a resolution requesting him to withdraw his resignation. AICC secretary V Hanumantha Rao had on Saturday warned that he would not like to continue in party post if their leader did not listen to their requests.
