Chennai: In the face of stiff opposition to hydrocarbon extraction in the delta region, Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar has assured that the Tamilnadu government will not support any project that people are against.
Speaking to mediapersons this morning, he said the government will implement only projects that people wish for.
He was responding to questions from mediapersons about the Central government granting permission to draw hydrocarbon in the delta region. The Centre today gave clearance for hydrocarbon extraction in 20 places in Tamilnadu.
There have been a series of protests in the delta regions against the hydrocarbon project of the Centre.
