Palaniswami orders Rs 186 crore relief for farmers hit by crop worm

Chennai: Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami today announced a relief of Rs 186 crore to farmers whose crops were affected due to American worm.

“About 2 lakh farmers in 17 districts will get Rs 13,500 for one hectare. The money will be deposited in their accounts,” he said.


The DMK also brought a special calling attention motion about construction of houses for those who lost them to Cyclone Gaja.

In response, Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam said 28,671 houses will be built at a cost of Rs 1,742 crore.


Stalin also asked the government to pass a resolution to press the Supreme Court to make Tamil one of the languages that would have translated SC verdicts. Law Minister C Ve Shanmugam said the SC has already said the verdicts will be translated in other languages in the coming days.
