Chennai: “An all-party meeting will be convened on 8 July to discuss the 10 per cent reservation for economically-weaker sections. The meet will be presided over by Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami,” State Health Minister C Vijayabaskar announced here today after releasing the rank list for MBBS and BDS admissions.
Counselling for medical education will be held from 8 to 10 July. An official press release stated that 57,004 applications have been received (31,353 and 25,651 for government and management quota, respectively).
Shruthi K of Thiruvallur, Aswin Raj A K of Erode and Elamathi V of Coimbatore have topped the rank list under government quota by securing 685, 677 and 676 marks in NEET, respectively.
Tamilnadu houses 24 State-run (23 – MBBS and 1 BDS), 31 private (13 MBBS and 18 BDS) and three other colleges.
The release of the medical rank list had been delayed due to the 10 per cent EWS quota. Though admissions to arts and science colleges and engineering colleges in the State had commenced without taking into consideration this quota, the Indian Medical Council had asked Tamilnadu to implement the latest quota system.
