Chennai: The private water tanker owners have decided to stay off the road from tomorrow in city alleging that they are not getting enough water to supply people.
After the monsoon failed and all the reservoirs that feed water to the city have gone dry, there is a huge demand for private water tankers to supply water across city. People could be seen everywhere with empty pots running for water. The State government said that all efforts are on to supply adequate water. Efforts to bring water from Jolarpet is on.
Meanwhile, Tamilnadu Private Water Tankers Association president Medavakkem Nijalingappa today announced that the private water tankers will not be operated from tomorrow alleging that they are not getting enough water to supply to people.
“If the government show us where it is available, we will transport them to city and reach the needy,” he said.
