Two die in road mishaps at Poonamallee

Chennai: Two persons died in separate road accidents at Poonamallee. According to the police, Umapathy (48) of Korattur was riding two-wheeler on Trunk Road, Poonamallee last night when his vehicle skid and fell. He died on the spot.

Umapathy served as a CRPF, Assistant Sub Inspector, Avadi as Signal Radio Operator. His body was sent to Kilpuak Government Hospital for postmortem. He is survived by his wife Sudha and two children.

In another incident, Devan (38), a native of Vellore rammed against a parked lorry at RTO check post, Nazarathpet, this morning.

Devan worked for a private company. He was riding to work at 5 am when he hit against a lorry parked on the roadside. The driver Aneesh (34) of Andhra Pradesh had left the lorry on the road to show the vehicle papers to the RTO office. He has been arrested. Police sent Devan’s body to Government Kilpauk Hospital for postmortem.
