Hyderabad: A week after Nadendla Bhaskar Rao, former Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh, joined BJP in the presence of the party president Amit Shah in the city, he was formally welcomed into the party fold by Telangana BJP president K Laxman yesterday.
A media report quoted Rao as saying that he had tried to join BJP when it was led by late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who was also the Prime Minister then.
Speaking on the occasion, Rao said that Shah had recently asked him to join the party. He said that he had promised Shah that he would toil as an ordinary worker to strengthen BJP.
Meanwhile, MLC N Ramachander Rao-led BJP delegation met Chief Secretary S K Joshi yesterday and submitted a memorandum, demanding the state public service commission to release a calendar for government recruitment and a white paper be released, giving the number of vacancies in each government.
