Not acceptable to drop regional language option in postal exams: G K Vasan

Chennai: Tamil Manila Congress (TMC) president G K Vasan has urged the central government to reconsider its decision to drop the regional language option to write exams in postal department recruitment drive.

Due to the sudden notification by the centre, candidates who are preparing for the exam in Tamil language are affected.

In a press release, Vasan urged the central government to allow the candidates appearing for postal examinations to write in their mother tongue instead of English and Hindi, as prescribed in the notification.
He added that the government should retake its previous notification and release a new one stating that candidates can write the exam in regional language.

Especially in Tamilnadu, people from the States and those who know the Tamil language should be recruited in central government departments. Due to language barrier, people couldn’t access the central offices where English or Hindi are commonly used. He further said that, employees who didn’t know the regional language but working in central government offices couldn’t communicate with the people and it leads to delay in works.

Postal department reach to nook and corner of the state. It is not acceptable to drop the regional language option in postal department recruitment drive, Vasan added.
