Four murder woman in Chennai, dump body in Madurantakam

Chennai: The city police arrested four persons, two of them women, for murdering a woman and dumping her body in a well.

According to the police, the victim Alphonse Mary (42), a resident of Ice House, had gone missing from 15 July. Her husband Iruthaya Nathan lodged a missing complaint that she had left home to Marina Beach to buy fish but never returned.

The Ice House police registered a missing case and found her body in a well in Madurantakam.

The missing case was altered to murder. The police found that apart from running an idli batter shop, Alphonse lent money on high interest rates to people.

Recently, two women, identified as Devi (32) and Valli (36) of Royapettah, had borrowed money; however, they failed to pay the monthly interest. The duo despite pawning all their jewellery could not repay the money due to the high rate of interest. They decided to murder her.

On 15 July, they invited Alphonse to their house on the pretext of repaying the money. Instead they attacked her.

Devi and Valli were joined by Mani (32), Devi’s husband, and Suresh (32), an accomplice. Alphonse was attacked with an iron rod and they took her body to Madurantakam. She was robbed of the jewels she was wearing before the body was dumped in a well.

The jewels were pawned by the accused.

The four are in police custody now.
