Anti-poaching watchers observe fast, demand regularisation of service

Coimbatore: Demanding regularisation in their service, nearly 250 anti-poaching watchers yesterday observed a one-day fast.

A media report said, the protesting watchers said that direct appointment of forest watchers through tests has come as a disappointment for them. They were all promoted and appointed on a seniority basis.

More than 1,000 of them in the State were affected because of the new policy. They further claimed that those working in social forestry section were made permanent, but services of majority of those in wildlife section were not.

The agitators demanded the State government to regularise those people who have put in 20 years of service. They also said their protest will continue until the demands are met.
