Municipality officials dig borewell at Sembakkam

Chennai: In an effort to ensure water supply to residents of Sembakkam, the Municipality officials have dug a borewell from which water will be drawn and supplied via pipes.

Although the required area was identified, it belonged to the Forest Department, which made the issue complicated.
However, former MP of Chitlapakkam, C Rajendran, and former Sembakkam Municipality Chairman, G M Shanthakumar, approached Forest Minister Dindigul C Sreenivasan and got the approval to dig the borewell.

The water drawn from this will be stored in a nearby overhead tank. It will then be supplied to houses through pipes which will be laid at a cost of Rs 8 lakh. Places like Samraj Nagar, VGP Pon Nagar and Tharageswari Nagar will benefit as a result of this move, it is learnt.
