Many would have come across a painful situation in their life. God who watches all this, helps them to overcome and bring a twist in their lives. Geetha Udayasangar, a resident of Shenoy Nagar, overcame suffering by practising yoga and has now become yoga therapist.
Speaking to News Today, Geetha, said, “Six years back, I was diagnosed with slipped disc, hypothyroidism and thickened endometrium (uterus dysfunction). I was bedridden and wasnt able to cook or do any of my daily chores. My medical reports confirmed that surgery was the only option. My gynaecologist suggested me to try yoga to avoid the painful surgery. As most of the common people, I also believed that yoga was just a lot of awkward twists and bends. Without much hope, I visited Dr Anjala Devi, a yoga therapist in Anna Nagar.”
“In the beginning, yoga was painful and difficult because, my body was stiff and I had poor blood circulation, due to lack of exercise. As days passed by, my pain was relieved and I slowly started to do my regular work and cooking, and children were very happy to eat home cooked food, after a long time. People in my office were surprised to see me again with complete fitness. Yoga not only made me physically fit, but also made me mentally stronger.”
“After that I suggested my friends, relatives and people around me to practise yoga. One fine day, I made up my mind to learn yoga professionally, to teach other. I completed my yoga therapy course in Shivdharshan Yoga Centre and PG Diploma in Tamilnadu Sports University. This made me an official yoga therapist, to treat, cure and teach yoga to many.
Recently, I treated one of my patient Keerthana, who had the same slipped disc which I had. I understood her problem and felt her pain, since I went through the similar situation. Now she is completely fit and is pursuing her post-graduation in Mumbai. My another patients, a 82-years-old man, approached me with multiple issues, such as difficulty in walking and severe numbness in his feet, who was also not able to do any of his work, was later cured by practising yoga. Now, he is completely fit, and is able to do his regular work, and also help his family.”
“Initially, I practised yoga to cure myself, but now I am a therapist, who helps others to cure their problems. Yoga helped me to balance work and family, and now pursue my career as a therapist. I was truly inspired by the magic of yoga and I suggest everyone to practise yoga and enjoy the gift of life.” She can be contacted at 99620 17324.
