Chennai: Construction works of underground sewerage system in Madipakkam is set to start by July 2020 and is expected to get completed within three years from date of commencement, said the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB).
According to R Jeyaratchegan, superintending engineer, of Metrowater, the board has planned and taken up the implementation of water supply scheme and underground sewerage scheme to the 42 areas that are newly added to Chennai Corporation.
According to media reports, the draft project report (DPR) is being prepared by Sai Consulting Engineers, the consultant for the project.
Sources state, the submission of various reports including inception report, interim report, dissemination report (of phase one and two), final report, social impact assessment report, environmental assessment report and final bid draft are a few among the essential documents that are to be submitted.
As of now, the final report and draft bid are expected by 31 August. The final bid will be submitted 30 days after the submission of the aforementioned documents for the approval from the technical review Committee. The approval of final bid is to be made around 31 October.
The board submitted the necessary documents after Ayyamperumal, an advocate residing in Madipakkam, reminded the Madras HC that the plan that began eight years ago, remained on pause for a long time.
