Day 24: Athi Varadar darshan in standing posture from 1 Aug (video)

Chennai: It was just as beautiful a sight as in the past 23 days of Athi Varadar drashan. Today, the 24th day of darshan, the Lord was decked up in a resplendent yellow robe that had a shining blue border.

Mounds of flowers add to His charm.

Tamilnadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami had darshan of the deity last evening. He announced that the Lord can  be worshipped in His standing posture (nindra thirukolam) from 1 August.

The deity has been worshipped in lying posture (kidantha thirukolam) from 1 July.

The idol was taken out of the tank of the Varadaraja Perumal Temple and kept for darshan at the Vasantha Mandapam of the temple from 1 July. The Athi Varadar vaibhavam, as locals call it, will be celebrated only for 48 days after which the idol will be returned to the tank.
