Theatre artiste ARS conferred Iyyakunar Sigaram K Balachander award

Chennai: AR Srinivasan, popularly known as ARS, a veteran theatre artiste and longtime resident of Sarangapani Street, was conferred the ‘Iyyakunar Sigaram K Balachander Award for Excellence in Theatre’, at the 69th birth anniversary of the director, held in the city recently.

Chairman of Bhavan’s Chennai Kendra, N Ravi, presided over the function in the presence of scholar Ramanan and president of various sabhas, Nalli Kuppuswamy Chettiar.

The award was instituted by Kavithalaya Krishnan in memory of his mentor K Balachander and given every year to a person connected to Tamil theatre, a press release said.
