Chennai: Maestro of Indian music Ilayaraja was conferred an Honorary doctorate by the Vignan University in Guntur. The event took place Saturday at the 7th Vignan’s Convocation. Cardiac surgeon Dr Alla Gopala Krishna Gokhale and senior VP of TCS V Rajanna were also conferred with an Honorary Doctorate.
This year has been eventful for the music maestro as he turned the 75th birthday. He has composed over 7000 songs, scored music for more than 1000 films and performed in more than 20,000 concerts. He is also the recipient of five Indian National Film Awards, Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan and the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award.
