Construction worker murdered in Chennai

Chennai: The city police are searching for a man who murdered his co-worker by assaulting him with an iron pipe at Royapettah.

According to police, the victim Selvam (20) worked at a construction site at Deivasigamani Street, Royapettah. Nearly ten persons were involved in building a residential complex here.

Selvam, a native of Villupuram did centering work at the site. He was found dead with injuries to his head by a co-worker Vinod who informed the police in the wee hours of today.

Preliminary inquiries revealed that one Mullainathan (22) had murdered him and fled the spot. It is said Mullainathan, a native of Cuddalore, and Selvam had been at logger-heads. On Sunday night the duo fought, but others at the spot separated them and brokered peace.

Late in the night, Mullainathan took an iron pipe and assaulted Selvam, he then escaped from the place. Royapettah Inspector Baskar visited the spot and is leading the investigation.
