Consumers Association of India runs free helpline through weekdays

Chennai: In a bid to help customers be aware of their rights, Consumers Association of India (CAI) has been operating free helpline services to register grievances about a product or service.

“Ignorance is the main reason for exploitation. Know your consumer responsibilities and fulfil them. Know your consumer rights and exercise them. The Consumer Protection Act gives you the right to safety, right to be informed, right to choose, right to be heard, right to redressal and right to consumer education,” said a press release from the association.

As a responsible consumer, one should gather information and facts available about a product or service before buying. It is one’s responsibility to demand good quality from manufacturers and service providers and to complain in a fair and honest manner and inform businesses and other consumers of dissatisfaction with a product or service.

It is your responsibility to educate yourself about how to become a responsible consumer and be part of the consumer movement in India, added the press release.

To know more about the rights, call 044-2449 3443 between 10 am and 5 pm from Monday to Friday or e-mail [email protected]
