Seven TN fishermen held by Lankan Navy

Rameswaram: Sri Lankan navy personnel yesterday arrested seven fishermen from Tamilnadu off Neduntheevu for allegedly fishing in the island nation’s territorial waters.

A media report said, the fishermen were from Pudukottai district. They had set out to sea in two boats. The island nation’s navy personnel detained them when they were fishing near Neduntheevu. 

The report said one of the boats had developed a snag and strayed into the Lankan water. The other boat tried to rescue them. However, all of them were detained and taken to Kangesanthurai.

It is to be noted that seven fishermen from the State were arrested by the Lankan navy for allegedly fishing in their territorial waters.
