Man held with fake currencies in Chennai

Chennai: A man was handed over to the police by alert fishermen at Kasimedu after he tried to buy fish using fake currency notes this morning.

According to police, Arumugam (30), a native of Krishnagiri came to Kasimedu on the pretext of purchasing fish during an auction.

During the payment, he handed over Rs 10,000 all of which were Rs 500 notes. When the fish seller began counting the notes, it came to light that seven notes were fake.

The fishermen alerted the patrol police. When the police questioned him. Arumugam claimed that notes he used to buy fish were given by a friend. Police took him to custody for further inquiry.
