Educationist, cultural ambassador Mrs YGP passes away


Chennai: The city is poorer by losing a giant of an educationist and a cultural ambassador in the death of Mrs YGP’s, as Rajalakshmi Parthasarathy preferred to be known.

Mrs YGP, who ran the Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan group of schools, passed away at 2.40 pm today due to cardiac arrest.

She is the mother of famous actor Y G Mahendran, and Y G Rajendran.

According to sources, the body of the 93-year-old will be kept for public homage at the Bharat Kalachar, a cultural organisation in T Nagar, and the cremation will take place tomorrow (7 August).

She ran the PSBB schools with great passion and gave it good direction. The school has produced many toppers and responsible adults.

She and her immediate family showed the same passion in running Bharat Kalachar that identified young talent in music, dance and other arts and gave them a platform. Mrs YGP would be in the front row of all such programmes, even if she had to be wheeled in a wheelchair, and encourage the artistes.
