Chennai: Tamilnadu and Pondicherry are likely to get heavy rains due to the low pressure formed in Bay of Bengal, read a bulletin issued by the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) today.
The bulletin further stated that the region would become low pressure zone in 48 hours.
Heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Nilgiris and Coimbatore districts of Tamilnadu, said the department today.
While some parts of Chennai experienced good showers, drizzles was reported at a few places in the city last night.
On the account of weather forecast, schools and colleges in four taluks in Nilgiris – Ooty, Gudalur, Bandhalur and Kundah – have declared a holiday. It may be noted that three taluks declared function yesterday owing to the heavy rainfall.
Predicting the local forecast for Chennai city and the neighbourhood, a press release from the department stated, “The sky condition is likely to be generally cloudy. Light rain is likely to occur in some areas. Maximum and Minimum temperatures are likely to be around 35 and 27 deg Celsius, respectively.”
