Chennai: The Employers’ Federation of Southern India (EFSI) is all set to organise its centenary celebrations and conduct conference on ‘Future of Work, Employment, Employability, and Employee Relations’ on 9 and 10 August here, in the city.
It will have Governor of Tamilnadu, Banwarilal Purohit as the chief guest. In this regard, the members of EFSI addressed mediapersons yesterday to share about the workings of the federation and a glimpse of the conference.
Speaking with News Today, EFSI chairman, Tamilnadu Board, R Venkatanarayan said, “The recent report released during the World Economic Forum addressed that nearly 60 per cent of the jobs that are present today will be lost in the next decade due to technological advancement. It will impact us in a massive scale. We live in an era of significant transformation today and the future is unpredictable.”
He further observed that ‘people’s choice to consume different products keep changing in a short span of time’.
“As a result it becomes tough for businesses and job builders need to come up with new ideas,” noted Venkatanarayan.
The two day conference on future of work, employment, employability, and employee relations is said to address such issues and will have experts of different sector discussing solutions and opinions.
The members of EFSI also briefed regarding the work done by the federation. Member K Manickam told News Today, “EFSI was essentially formed to protect the rights of the employers. In the last 100 years, EFSI has consistently played a major role in law and policies governing employers.”
