Chennai: In a bid to strengthen the international cooperation between countries, Russia’s ROSATOM organised a fishing tournament recently.
The event was held near Leningrad nuclear power plant in Russia, and 20 competitors such as Hungary, Egypt, India, Bangladesh and Turkey participated in the tournament.
According to a press release, “Soon after measuring the weight of the fishes caught, it was released into the sea. Russian professional anglers, winners of Russian national and regional fishing competitions and independent foreign experts from Czech Republic and Egypt judged the tournament.”
“Researches and studies conducted by the Leningrad NPP show that it does not have any impact on the environment,” said Leningrad NPP environment department – head Alexandra Tkacheva.
The event was attended by ecologists who conducted dosimetric control.
