TN pays tributes to Sushma Swaraj; CM says she was rolemodel for women

Chennai: Tamilnadu Chief Minister and AIADMK joint coordinator Edappadi K Palaniswami, coordinator and Deputy CM O Panneerselvam, Opposition DMK president M K Stalin and leaders of various political parties condoled the death of senior BJP leader and former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.

In a statement here today, Palaniswami said she was a rolemodel for women, who as a Supreme Court advocate and a great orator, entered into active politics and became a Minister of Haryana at an young age.

She has been a member of Parliament for several terms and was also elected as MLA and served as the Chief Minister of Delhi, he added.

“During her tenure as External Affairs Minister she was instrumental in rendering assistance to ensure the safe release of stranded Indians in other countries and was also very active in the social media by responding to the queries raised by the people,” Palaniswami said.

Palaniswami expressed deep anguish and shock over her death and offered his condolences to the bereaved family members. Panneerselvam said Sushma’s death was a great loss to the
country and offered his condolences.

Stalin in a tweet, said he was pained to hear about the death of Sushma Swaraj, who had risen to great heights in public life and performed the responsibilities given to her admirably. He also offered his condolences to the BJP party members and also to her family.

BJP State Unit President Tamilisai Soundarajan, former Union Minister and senior BJP leader pon Radhakrishnan, PMK founder S Ramadoss, his son and Rajya Sabha member Anbumani Ramadoss, DMK Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi, AMMK leader TTV Dhinakaran, Dravidar Kazhagam President K Veeramani also condoled the death of Sushma and recalled the contributions made by her to the country.
