Van Mahotsav observed in Chennai school

Chennai: Thanks to the Vidyodaya chain of schools situated at Thirumalai Road, ‘Van Mahotsav’ a programme for planting saplings was held at the school’s premises recently.

A press release said, Raj Cherubal, Chief Executive Officer of Chennai Smart City Limited, took part and planted saplings along with members of school board, teaching fraternity and others. The students rendered a ‘Tree song’ showing their love for nature.

Speaking on this, one of the organisers said, “The founders of Vidyodaya schools started this novel initiative way back in 1959. Plenty of trees are now present in the campus, thanks to this initiative. This event is organised every year and saplings are planted and taken care.”
