Chennaiite releases book on Lord Athi Varadar

Chennai: As the entire State is celebrating the ‘Athi Varadar’ festival at Kancheepuram, Agri Kannan, a longtime resident of T Nagar, has come out with a book titled ‘Sri Adhi Athivaradarin Arutprabhavam’, in Tamil.

A press release said, the book describes the history of the deity, with colourful pictures of Athi Varadar in ananthasayanam and nindra kolam (standing) and is distributed free of cost at Kannan’s residence.

Briefing about the release of the book, Kannan said, “I was born and brought up in the temple town and had the opportunity to see Athi Varadar during 1979.”

“My family members at Kanchipuram are staunch devotees of Kanchi Mahaperiyava, and I wrote and released the book with His blessings.”

Agri Kannan has also been distributing free pocket panchangam for over 35 years and performing Poorna Pushkala Sameda Dharmasastha thirukalyanam every year at Kanthimati Kalyana Mandapam, T Nagar.
