Water inflow to Tamilnadu from Cauvery in Karnataka eases up

Chennai: With monsoon easing up in Karnataka, the catchment area of the Cauvery river, the inflow into Tamilnadu dams has come down.

Reports state that the inflow has gone down in major dams in Karnataka from 72,000 cusecs to 62,225 cusecs.

Only 32,708 cusecs of Cauvery water from Kabini dam and 29,517 cusecs from Krishnaraja Sagar dam is being released to Tamilnadu.

With inflows increasing following heavy rain in Karnataka, Mettur dam sluices were opened by Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami yesterday for irrigation purpose in Tamilnadu. The water level in the dam stands at 107 ft (total capacity 120 ft).
