MRM workers’ bid to protest against Pakistan foiled in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) workers bid to hold a protest in the city against Pakistan was foiled by the police officials and six of its members were taken into preventive custody yesterday.

The MRM is an RSS arm. The party workers attempted to hold a protest at Afzal Gunj near their office against Pakistan for its false propaganda against the Indian government for striking down Article 370 by abrogating the special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

However, since no permission for carrying out protest was received by the officials as prohibitory orders were in force in the city, they were detained and later released.

When the BJP-led central government had announced the removal of the special status for Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370, MRM had celebrated the move.

A media report said, MRM, which is being existent in the State for the last three years, has recently drawn up plans to expand its presence in Telangana which has a substantial population of Muslims. It planned to take up programmes for enhancing education and employment opportunities for Muslims and for promotion of Urdu. He had said the Manch, in , presently has over 3,000 members and the target was to take it to 10,000 by the end of this year.
