Rubik’s Cube World Cup begins

Chennai: After a successful first year that challenged speedcubers from around the world, Red Bull Rubik’s Cube World Cup returns for its second season.
In association with Rubik’s Brand Limited and supported by the WCA (World Cubing Association) the competition will be played out on four continents in three game modes to find the ultimate Rubik’s Cubers.
According to a release, the gaming mode offered are, Speed Cubing (fastest male and fastest female), Fastest Hand (one handed solve), and Re-scramble. In addition to the three Game Modes, there will be a Female track for the Speed Cubing Game Mode.
The National Qualifiers of the tournament has already begun and the World Final will be played coming later in the year.Anyone from around the world can enter the championship by registering online at and compete to be crowned the fastest Rubik’s cube solver in each game-mode and win a share of $30,000 prize purse. The national qualifiers have already started in Bangalore last week and on 24 August, will be played in Mumbai, 1 September in Delhi, 7 September in Hyderabad, and 21 Spetember in Chennai. The national finals will also be played in Chennai from 22 September. It will be held at the Phoenix Market City. The winners will go forward to Moscow to compete in the World Finals.
