Woman cop assaulted at Kilpauk Hospital

Chennai: Three persons have been arrested for manhandling a woman police constable who was on duty at Government Kilpauk Hospital Monday.

According to the police, the bystanders were annoyed when the police constable Sheeba (38) asked them to leave the place to give privacy for the patients admitted in the emergency ward.

Shruthika (5), a resident of Shenoy Nagar, T P Chathram and daughter of Samson was admitted to Government Kilpauk hospital after she fell down from the first floor of her house and was admitted to the emergency ward of the hospital.

Around 10-15 relatives of Shruthika gathered outside the ward to see her. On seeing this, the duty doctor asked police constable Sheeba to clear the crowd. Sheeba asked the family members to leave. Agitated by this, they began beating her. Sheeba who suffered injuries was admitted to the hospital. She lodged a complaint with Kilpauk police.
Three relatives, two of them identified as Perimala and Ashok were taken into custody.
