Chennai: Former minister P Chidambaram, who was dramatically arrested in the INX Media case last evening from his Delhi residence in Jor Bagh, will be produced in the CBI special court today at 4 pm.

According to reports, Chidambaram will be taken to the CBI special court in the Delhi Rose Avenue complex this evening.

The 73-year-old former Finance minister was arrested last night after the Delhi High Court denied him bail in the INX Media case two days ago.

The CBI officials scaled up the walls of Chidambaram’s Jor Bagh residence to gain entry. After the arrest, the Congress leader was taken to the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital for a medical examination. Later, he was shifted to the CBI guesthouse.

After the Delhi High Court refused to grant any protection from arrest to the former Home minister in the INX Media case, the CBI issued a notice to him Tuesday, asking him to appear before the investigating officer within two hours, after failing to find him at his residence.

Yesterday, he failed to get any immediate relief from a Supreme Court bench and it is reported that the appeal will be heard Friday by the top court.
