Chennai: Southern Railway yesterday denied reports that due to cash shortage, it had suspended On-board Housekeeping Services (OBHS) in more than 100 trains.
Issuing a clarification, Southern Railway’s official Twitter handle said, “An alarmist situation has been portrayed. There was a funds mismatch issue, which has since been sorted out and bills over Rs 50 crore are being processed for payment.”
It further added that the OBHS, pest control, linen supply and toilet maintenance would continue on all 110 identified trains.
The SR further clarified that at no point has it considered stopping OBHS and other services on trains. It stated that Southern Railway is deeply committed to Swachh Bharat mission and would ensure improvement in its services.
