Chennai: A police team from Andhra Pradesh arrived in the city this morning to conduct inquiries into the alleged murder of a Chennai-based woman in Tirupathi.
According to police, Murugan and Cynthia (45), a couple living in Kamarajar Salai, R A puram, reached Tirupathi on 23 August. They occupied a room in a lodge ‘Suprabath’. On 25 August, the lodge staff noticed a foul smell emanating from the room which was allegedly locked from outside.
The staff opened it to find the decomposed body of Cynthia and alerted the police. Murugan, the prime suspect in the case, went missing.
This morning, a team of police from Tirupathi reached the city and met Abhiramipuram police regarding the case. Family members of Murugan are expected to be questioned.
