Chennai: Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami today inaugurated the Tamilnadu Government’s education channel- ‘Kalvi Tholaikkatchi’ at Anna Centenary Library, Kotturpuram.
The content will include shows aimed at school children, besides those on jobs and related issues. ”Students can now learn from home,” School Education Minister K A Sengkottaiyan said at the launch event.
There will be a total of 32 programmes from 6 am to 9 pm. The duration of every programme will be half-an-hour.
The Department of School Education and Tamilnadu Arasu Cable TV Corporation started the ‘Kalvi Tholaikkatchi’ with exclusive educational content for school children. The cable connection will be provided to 53,000 government and government-aided schools in Tamilnadu.
‘Kalvi Tholaikkatchi’ can also be viewed by the students from their houses with the Arasu cable connection in channel number 200.
Education-related information, programmes featuring academicians, and classes conducted by subject matter experts will be telecast. Content relevant to students from class 1-12 will be featured. Local cable operators have been tasked with the duty of providing connections to the schools.
