4,850 students travel in Chennai Metro

Chennai: As many as 4,850 government school students have travelled in Metro as part of educational trip organised by CMRL in August.

According to a press release, Chennai Metro is revolutionising the concept of mass urban transportation across the Chennai City. Hence in an attempt to bring awareness to the students of government schools about the Metro across the Metro Rail alignment in the city, CMRL has been undertaking monthly educational trips from Central Metro to St Thomas Mount and Airport via Koyambedu and Washermenpet to Airport via AG-DMS for the students.

The features of the Metro train and its stations are being explained to the students. In this connection, students from Government, Corporation Schools, Government-aided schools and Government women colleges are being given the educational trips during the academic year 2019-20.

For the previous academic year 2018-2019, a total of 31,178 students from around 60 schools travelled in Metro.
The educational trip for 2019-20 commenced from 4 June. A total of 4,850 students took this educational trip in August. As many as 13,554 students have travelled in the Metro in between June and August 2019, the release said.
