Chennai: Tangled wires protruding out from a rusty junction box at Jagannathapuram in Chetpet, pose grave danger to road users, said Jayalakshmi, a longtime resident of the area.
“The box must be replaced, as it is rusted. We, the residents, would feel relieved if action is taken as early as possible in this issue,” she added.
Sivakamy, another resident, speaking on this, said, “Last month, a motorist fell down close to this box, as his vehicle skid. The authorities must fix the wires, so that these don’t remain exposed. This must be done before rains begin in full swing.”
“Even at the McNichols Road in Chetpet, the underground cable wires which cover a few meters of the road, remain open, thereby risking the lives of motorists and pedestrians,” stated Geethavani, a resident of the area.
When News Today contacted TANGEDCO on this, it was informed that the department has already initiated action in this regard. It further informed that in case of any such complaint, residents can bring it to its notice, by logging about the complaint in the website www.tangedco.gov.in.
It was also reported that the EB department, has introduced a new facility to enable residents to register their grievances online with the consumer grievance redressal forum of the circle concerned or check the website tneb.tnebnet.org.
