Chennai: Madras High Court advocates of various associations boycotted the court proceedings today condemning the transfer of Chief Justice V K Tahilramani to Meghalaya High Court.
In Chennai, the Madras Bar Association was leading the protest. Demanding the Supreme Court collegium to reconsider the transfer, advocates from two associations of Madurai bench also staged a protest and boycotted the court for the second consecutive day.
When justice Tahilramani was scheduled to preside over the first bench on Monday, she abstained from court proceedings as her resignation was yet to be accepted. Today also she abstained from the court proceedings.
Justice Tahilramani tendered her resignation protesting against her transfer to Meghalaya High Court 6 September.
The Supreme Court collegium consists of top five justices passed a resolution recommending her transfer to Meghalaya HC.
The collegium also rejected her representation and reiterated that she was transferred in the ”interest of better administration of justice”.
The collegium also passed a separate resolution by transferring Chief Justice of Meghalaya HC A K Mittal to the Madras High Court.
