Chennai: Police arrested four persons this morning in connection with the revenge killing of a murder accused at Villivakkam. The arrested have been identified as Subash, Sudhan, Kesavamurthy and Jabasteen.
On Tuesday, Baskar (42) of Balaramapuram, Villivakkam, who was on bail, was stabbed to death. He worked as a car driver for Puthiyavan, who was the general secretary of All India Other Backward Classes (AIOBC) Railway Union and is the main accused in the murder of the latter. It is said Baskar, along with his friend, murdered Puthiyavan over some failed financial dealings.
On Tuesday, he was walking near his home when a gang covered his face with a cloth, used a pepper spray on his face and stabbed him. He passed away at 3 am today in a hospital.
Police said that after Baskar was released on bail, he threatened to murder Puthiyavan’s wife and brother Subash if they did not return Rs 5 lakh which he had given to Puthiyavan. Fearing this, Subash and others murdered him.
