Chennai: The 109th annual session of The Southern India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) was held recently in Chennai which saw the participation of Governor Banwarilal Purohut, MSME Additional Chief Secretary, Hans Raj Varma and Department of IT Secretary, Tamilnadu, Santhosh Babu among others.
“For the future, India aims to be a $5 trillion economy by 2024 by focussing on industry, innovation and entrepreneurship,” said the Governor. “The democratic and constitutional structure of the nation is our biggest asset. Make in India, Digital India, Smart Cities, Skill India and Housing for All are government priorities to achieve this goal.”
In a panel discussion on MSME, Hans Raj Verma said, “We want trade bodies and association to become project implementing agencies. Under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana, Rs 1,000 crore is available in a 60-40 proportion between the Government of India and the State government for training the youth in relevant skills to get them jobs.”
