Chennai: The National Finals of the second edition of Red Bull Rubik’s World Cup witnessed the best cube solvers from across the country compete against each other at Club Crest, Phoenix Market city, Chennai on 22 September and Vijay Kishore (Chennai City Qualifier Winner), Lakshmi Rajaram (Chennai City Qualifier Winner), Aniketh Arya (Bangalore City Qualifier Winner) and Bhargav Narasimhan (Bangalore City Qualifier Winner) triumphed after outsmarting their opponents in their respective categories.
According to a release, the four qualifiers won in categories which are Speed Cubing (Mixed), Speed Cubing (Female), Re-scramble and Fastest Hand and now get the opportunity to represent India at the Red Bull Rubik’s Cube World Cup in Moscow, Russia in November.
In the World Cup, the four national winners of the participating countries (China, India, Mexico, Spain and Russia), alongside the event wildcards, will meet at the Yota Arena in the Russian capital, Moscow, on 17 November. The Red Bull Rubik’s World Cup Champions from 2018, as well as the WCA Winners and the U.S.A Nationals Winner, will join them as wildcards.
The release further added that Chennai hosted the Chennai qualifiers where many cube solvers competed to reach the National Finals of Rubik’s Cube World Cup. It was Alaik Bhatia, Vijay Kishore, Anish Rajesh and Lakshimi Rajaram who qualified for the National Finals.
There were city qualifiers held in other cities as well like Bangalore (17 th August), Mumbai (24 th August), Delhi (1 st September) and Hyderabad (7 th September), the winners of the respective qualified and competed at the National Finals of Red Bull Rubik’s Cube World Cup in Chennai.
The three-month-long qualifying season that kicked-off in India by mid-August will come to an end on the eve of the World Finals, in Moscow with participants vying to get their hands on the 30.000 USD prize pool and the World titles.
