Chennai, Oct 4: DMK president M K Stalin today demanded a detailed probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the NEET impersonation case. At an event in Thiruvarur, Stalin said agents and brokers from Tamilnadu and other States were reportedly involved in this crime.
He said that if justice is to be delivered, the probe should be done by the CBI. The NEET impersonation case is currently being investigated by CB-CID. They have arrested students, their fathers and agents who were involved in the scam. The incident came to light after the Dean of Theni Government Medical college got an alert over the credential of a student K V Udit Surya, son of Venkatesan who was a doctor in Government Stanley Hospital.
CB-CID arrested the duo after it was found they used a proxy from Kerala to write the exam for Surya at a NEET centre in north India. While interrogating the duo police found many others had used imposters to clear the exams. Dr Mohammed Shafi from Vaniyambadi allegedly employed a proxy to write the exam for his son Irfan. Also, CB-CID found other students including Praveen of SRM Medical college and his father Saravanan, an owner of a travels company, Rahul of Balaji Medical college and his father Davis and a sub-contractor for laying internet cables linked to the same fraud.
As per reports, three of the seven arrested so far have confessed that a similar scam took place in 2018. The police have asked the National Testing Agency at Noida to furnish details of the students from Tamilnadu who opted to write the examinations in other States last year.
