Chennai: “Though Petromax starring Tamannaah Bhatia is a horror comedy film, it also projects the family values and how to take care our parents,” said director Rohin Venkatesan of Adhe Kangal fame. A remake of Telugu movie Anando Brahma, it is produced by Eagle’s Eye Productions. Music is by Ghibran and editing is by Leo John Paul. The movie is stated to release on 11 October.
“Kaali Venkat, Munishkanth, Trichy Saravanakumar of Asatha Povathu Yaaru fame, Sathyan are the important characters who played pivotal roles in the film along with Yogi Babu and Tamannaah. We also slightly changed the script from Anando Bramha to suit Tamil audience,” said Rohin during the Petromax press meet yesterday. The movie also has Mime Gopi, Prem Kumar, child actor Monica who are doing key roles.
Speaking about the title, he said, “I thought the title should be catchy. I also like the Goundamani sir’s dialogue ‘Petromax light ae thaan venuma’, so we kept the title. It intends to give a lighter effect along with the message that there is no life without an inner light to fight the demons within us.”
Tamannah said, “When I saw the Telugu movie Anando Brahma, I know the Tamil audience will like it. I was skeptical before doing Petromax. But I went for it with hope that it will come good. It was a fun experience for me working with such a hardworking team. And music director Ghibran is an asset to us. Rohin is fast and clear. Hopefully, we will do another film in the future.”
Actor Prem Kumar revealed that the movie shoot was completed in 32 days and it came out very well. Kaali Venkat said, “‘It is very difficult to work with Munishkanth sir. He makes us laugh even during serious scenes. Tammannah was friendly and down-to-earth.”
