Chennai: Governor Banwarilal Purohit, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, political leaders and others extended greetings to people on the eve of Deepavali.
In his greeting Banwarilal Purohit said Deepavali, the festival of lights is a day of rejoicing and joy. “May the festival brings happiness, good health and prosperity in every one’s lives and may the power of good and brightness always prevail,” he added.
Palaniswami said Deepavali is the day in which evil is destroyed and goodness prevails. “I wish that there be peace and happiness in the life of the people in this Deepavali,” he added.
Spiritual leader Bangaru Adigalar said, “Deepavali is a day where when we lit the lamp, the darkness will go and brightness prevails.” He also asked the people to gift clothes to friends and relatives.
The Prince of Arcot, Nawab Mohammed Abdul Ali said may the festival of lights brighten the homes with all happiness and long life. “Deepavali symbolises the triumph of good over evil and right over wrong. Let us remember, we are part of humanity, with all its diversity of religions, languages, cultures, traditions and experience, and India forms a large microcosm of the contemporary world,” he added.
PMK leaders S Ramadoss, Anbumani Ramadoss, TMC founder G K Vaasan, AMMK general secretary T T V Dinakaran, Indian Haj Association president Abu Becker also conveyed their wishes.
