Chennai: The third global summit of Tamil entrepreneurs and professionals – The Rise – was inaugurated by former Additional Chief Secretary to Odisha government R Balakrishnan, Women’s Christian College principal Lilian Jasper and former Chief Secretary to Haryana government M G Devasahayam among many others recently in the city.
“The summit calls for deepening of a culture of multi-stakeholder collaborations, and expansion of resources based on small – medium entrepreneurial ventures as a response to economic slowdown and massive joblessness, while keeping the sustainable development goals set by the United Nations as the foundational belief for action,” said The Rise Movement founder, visionary and global head, Jegath Gaspar Raj.
According to a press release, one major initiative of The Rise Summit was the participation of Global Tamil Angel Investors (GTAI) Mohan Kumaramangalam, who is also a and a professional fund manager-cum-investor and active politician, heading this initiative. It will encourage and nurture entrepreneurship in Tamilnadu by providing funds, market access and mentorship. The overarching mission is to create substantial employment opportunities for the educated Tamil Youth by helping Tamil entrepreneurs build successful companies.
The summit also saw Foxconn India MD and country head Josh Foulger participating. He will lead a high level panel to deliberate on how to turn Tamilnadu into a hundred billion dollar Electronics Hub. Josh believes that manufacturing holds the scope and potential for massive job generation along with countless number of allied small – medium companies, said a press release.
