The cold, dry winter air can be harsh on baby’s delicate skin, and along with it comes a host of skin problems like dryness, itching, and rashes.
Speaking to parents on why extra moisturization is important for baby’s skin, Dr Subhashini N S of The Himalaya Drug Company, says, “Extra moisturization for dry skin becomes particularly important during winter. Thus, maintaining a skin care routine and using natural products free from parabens, alcohol, artificial color/dyes, mineral oils, SLS/SLES/ALES, and phthalates during winter is of utmost importance for your baby’s skin.”
She further recommended parents to use a mild baby wash. “For parents who prefer using a soap for their baby’s bath, Subhashini suggests soaps infused with the goodness of Indian aloe, milk, almond oil,and olive oil, which is formulated specifically to manage excessive dry skin in babies. Parents can opt for a gentle baby lotion infused with olive oil and almond oil and also a baby cream with licorice,” added Subhashini.
She also stresses on the need to change baby’s diapers often, as wet diapers can lead to infections and rashes.
