Chennai: Fans celebrated the 69th birthday of actor Rajinikanth in a gala manner across the State today, holding special screenings of his yesteryear hits, cutting cakes and distributing various welfare measures.
Leaders of political parties and popular film stars have greeted the actor. In his message, DMK president M K Stalin, said, ”My heartiest birthday wishes to Rajinikanth. I wish him a long and healthy life.”
Makkal Needhi Maiam chief and actor Kamal Haasan wished Rajinikanth a joyous birthday. He tweeted, ”I wish him for a healthy and a successful life”.
Among those who wished Rajinikanth on the occasion include Congress leader Sanjay Dutt, former Union Minister M K Alagiri and former Chennai Deputy Mayor Karate Thyagarajan.
Film personalities including Mahesh Babu, Sivakarthikeyan, Abhishek Bachchan, Kushbhu, Meena, Pa Ranjith, Siruthai Siva, Atlee, A R Murugadoss Venkat Prabhu, music composers D Imman, and Anirudh greeted Rajinikanth today.
Meanwhile, there were gala celebrations across Tamilnadu since last night with Rajinikanth’s movies screened at many cinema halls. Crackers were burst and sweets were distributed.
This morning, special poojas were held in several places of worship. Meaga meetings are being organised at various cities by Rajini Makkal Mandram. On the social media, tweets greeting Rajinikanth became trending.
”I will not tolerate those who speak bad about Rajinikanth. I will give them a befitting reply”, said actor Raghava Lawrence today.
Speaking to mediapersons after taking part in special prayers organised at Marundheeswarar temple in Thiruvanmiyur, he said, ”I wonder why people like Seeman needlessly take up my name while taking a dig at Rajinikanth. I will not take it light.”
